Assessment of Genotype Stress Tolerance as an Effective Way to Sustain Wheat Production under Salinity Stress Conditions

چکیده
The creation of salt-tolerant wheat genotypes can provide a basis for sustainable production in areas that are particularly sensitive to the impacts climate change on soil salinity. This study aimed select could serve as genetic resource breeding salinity tolerance. A two-year experiment was established with 27 genotypes, grown stress and non-stress conditions. Agronomic parameters (plant height, spike weight, number grains per spike, thousand grain yield/plant) were analyzed phenophase full maturity, while biochemical (DPPH radical scavenging activity total phenolic content) tested four phenophases. Grain yield/plant most parameter salinity, 31.5% reduction value. Selection based salt tolerance indices (STI, MP, GMP) favored selection Renesansa, Harmonija, Orašanka, Bankut 1205, KG-58, Jugoslavija. Based YI (1.30) stability analysis, genotype Harmonija stands out desirable cultivation saline presence positive correlations between parameters, all phenophases, enables high antioxidant yield potential, even early stages plant development.

Physiological assessment of drought tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties under moisture stress conditions
Drought is one of the major limiting factors in wheat production in Pakistan. Five commercial wheat varieties; Chakwal-97, Inqilab-91, Margalla-99, NR-234 and Wafaq2001 were grown in pots in glasshouse. Plants were subjected to three consecutive drought cycles at tillering, pre-anthesis and milky growth stages by withholding water till leaf rolling started. Measurements of physiological respons...

متن کاملSalinity Stress and Salt Tolerance
Salinity is one of the most serious factors limiting the productivity of agricultural crops, with adverse effects on germination, plant vigour and crop yield (R Munns & Tester, 2008). Salinization affects many irrigated areas mainly due to the use of brackish water. Worldwide, more than 45 million hectares of irrigated land have been damaged by salt, and 1.5 million hectares are taken out of pr...
